Counting visits
We count visits with Umami. It runs on our own server, sets no cookies and does not keep your IP address. We only see counts: which pages are viewed and which site you came from. We also see roughly which country and city you are in. On top of that we see what kind of device, operating system and browser you use, along with the language and screen size. We share these figures with no one. Separately, our web server, like any web server, keeps a log with the IP address of each request. We keep it for at most 90 days, for security and to trace faults.
The demo
On the Try Walnoot page you can have Walnoot 8B do a fixed task. If you enter a name or a company name there, your browser sends it with the task to our server. Our server puts it into the example and passes the instruction on to the server that runs Walnoot. We rent that server from Verda, in Finland. We do not keep what you enter or what Walnoot answers. We do not use it for training either. The name and company name never go into the web address. The web server also keeps no log of requests to the demo. To limit abuse and costs, our server counts how often the demo is used from an IP address. For that it keeps a hashed form of the address in memory for one day and then deletes it. No cookie and no outside service is involved. If you leave the fields empty, the page fills in a sample name. A made-up name works just as well. WAINUT is responsible for this processing.
